Philosophy

We believe that the education provided by Tampa Bay Christian Academy should begin with a student's relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ and extend throughout every other aspect of life. 
 
Our responsibility, therefore, is to provide a balance of experiences - spiritual, intellectual,social, emotional and physical that will result in the greatest possible growth. The founders of the school expressed their belief that all truth originated with God, and they emphasized the placing of Christian character before career.
 
We believe it is desirable that the student body be co-educational and reflect the diversity within American society racially, socially and economically, and that it be limited in size so a sense of community is possible. Ideally the student body should show promise of unusual achievement in many disciplines. While the school seeks to serve as many children of Christian parents as possible, we believe it must offer admission to students from families not professing the Christian faith.
 
We exist to assist parents in their God-given role of raising children. We seek to help students reach their potential by identifying, nurturing and developing their God-given talents. ``A three strand cord is not easily broken." (Ecclesiastes 4:12); we believe this verse applies to the home, church, and school working together to maximize growth.
 
We believe our curriculum should include the formal study of the Bible as well as an integration of the Bible within the subject areas. School organization and balanced instructional activities reflect the philosophy that developmentally appropriate practices should be followed for nurturing the whole child. We also recognize in a "multitude of counsel there is safety" (Proverbs 24:6). Collaboration among teaches and administration is essential for initiation of innovation practices as we pass on to the students traditional knowledge and learning. Teachers are empowered to make teaching decisions that foster growth in each child.
 
We teach children to become independent learners that can evaluate information to make good decisions. We believe that students should contribute to the school community by becoming responsible citizens seeking to help and love others. We want to include as large a choice of courses and learning experiences as possible. We are looking for significant academic achievement. Our overriding priority is the development of our student into men and women who have the capacity to give leadership to others in the great task of loving God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, and their neighbors as themselves.
